After failing to receive an oscar for his role in “Somebody Up There Likes Me”, producer Paul Schnee and director Robert Wise awarded Paul Newman with what they called a “Noscar”. The engraving on the Noscar reads “The Schnee-Wise Noscar award to Paul Newman for best portraying a terrible no-good, for turning him into a charming and loveable sprite, and thereby doing what Lincoln said should never be done, i.e. fooling all of the people all of the time”.
